<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>Sepsis is one of the most important causes of death in developed countries, where almost 2/3  of the population is obese. Thus, the coexistence of both conditions is becoming a common occurrence in clinical practice, and an increasing number of scientific studies are aimed at studying the potential impact of obesity on sepsis, but their results remain controversial [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="cit1">1</xref>].Compulsive overeating (CED), according to numerous studies, is one of the causes of obesity  in 40 to 70 % of cases, being a trigger factor for this disease. In this regard, there is an increasing need to study obesity in the context of compulsive overeating in critical conditions [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="cit2">2</xref>].The aim of the work: to analyze the data of literary sources touching upon the issues of the influence of obesity (and along with it compulsive overeating) on   sepsis; to emphasize the advantages of a multidisciplinary approach in accompanying people with critical conditions with an assessment of eating disorders, in particular, a history of compulsive overeating.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>компульсивное переедание</kwd><kwd>сепсис</kwd><kwd>критические состояния</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>compulsive overeating</kwd><kwd>sepsis</kwd><kwd>critical conditions</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Jagan, N.
