<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The main causes of death in patients with polytrauma remain traumatic brain injury (TBI) and uncontrolled bleeding with trauma-induced coagulopathy (TIC) [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="cit1">1</xref>].Moreover, patients with severe TBI (Glasgow Coma Scale, GCS ≤8) require targeted infusion therapy (TIT), since, according to the results of the studies, a positive fluid balance was associated with worse survival and worse treatment outcomes in this category of patients [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="cit2">2</xref>]. Traditionally, the concept of CIT is implemented using invasive techniques (e.g. PiCCO), however, recently there has been a growing interest in non-invasive monitoring tools, one of which is bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA). BIA allows us to assess the patient‘s volume status, the distribution of fluid between the body‘s sectors, identify hypo- and hypervolemia, and thus indirectly assess changes in the water content in tissues, including the brain. In the context of CIT, BIA parameters can be used to make decisions about the volume, quality and rate of infusion therapy in critically ill patients in the neurointensive care unit [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="cit3">3</xref>].</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>Биоимпеданс</kwd><kwd>неинвазивный биоимпендансный анализ</kwd><kwd>баланс жидкости</kwd><kwd>целенаправленная инфузионная терапия</kwd><kwd>черепно-мозговая травма</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>Bioimpedance</kwd><kwd>noninvasive bioimpedance analysis</kwd><kwd>fluid balance</kwd><kwd>targeted infusion therapy</kwd><kwd>traumatic brain injury</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">GBD 2019 Diseases and injuries collaborators: global burden of 369 diseases and injuries in 204 countries and territories, 1990–2019: a systematic analysis for the global burden of disease study. – 2019.
