Organization of medical care to red army soldiers during the defense of Mogilev (july–september 1941)

This article examines the organization of medical support for the Mogilev garrison during the city’s heroic defense (July–September 1941) using documented eyewitness accounts and data on the structure of military medical institutions. The article examines the deployment and operation of field hospitals and medical battalions during the encirclement and occupation until November 1941. The relationship between the capacity of medical institutions and the actual losses suffered by the city’s defenders is analyzed. It concludes that the actual number of wounded treated during the defense differs significantly from a number of testimonies from participants in the events.
