Pulmonary-renal syndrome as a “mask” of acute respiratory distress syndrome in patients in the intensive care unit

Abstract

Today, there are many diseases that are “masked” as acute respiratory distress syndrome. Their insufficient intravital diagnosis leads to a high percentage of mortality from these diseases. A group of autoimmune diseases that occur with simultaneous damage to the lungs and kidneys (pulmonary-renal syndrome) is available in the article. Clinical and radiological these diseases are similar to acute respiratory distress syndrome. Given the observed clinical picture of this pathology and the rate of symptom progression, patients with pulmonary-renal syndrome are hospitalized immediately in the intensive care and resuscitation department. The doctor should be wary of the patient with simultaneous damage to the lungs and kidneys and conduct differential diagnosis between autoimmune and non-immune natural pathology. Specific treatment of such patients consists of immunosuppressive therapy (glucocorticosteroids, cytostatics, monoclonal antibodies) and the appointment of plasmapheresis as indicated.
