Abstract
In the current work we examined the role of lung biopsy in the diagnosis and evaluation of the progressive fibrotic phenotype in 80 patients with interstitial lung diseases. Morphological patterns with different inflammatory and fibrotic characteristics have been identified. The identified differences were correlated with the clinical data of 2 groups of patients with progressive fibrosis (n = 42) and a favorable course (n = 38). The morphological characteristics of a pattern with a probable progressive phenotype of pulmonary fibrosis in patients with interstitial lung diseases were determined. This has practical implications for patient management.
