Abstract

The article describes the «classic» manifestations of catatonia, as well as those that are quite rare in the everyday practice of a doctor. Attention is paid to the origin of catatania, which can be both idiopathic and due to organic causes. The latter give the clinical picture of the disorder the persistence of pathological symptoms, which complicates the treatment of patients. Manifestations of catatonia are examined from the perspective of violations of its spatio-temporal organization, which leads to the disappearance or distortion of human consciousness. It is shown that the disorder of the latter is the main cause of the pathogenesis of catatonia.
