Influence of cognitive reactions and functions of attention to efficiency and individualization of selection methods psychotherapy for alcoholic dependence

Abstract

Cognitive functioning plays an important role as a predictor of the formation of alcohol dependence, and can also have a significant effect on the effectiveness of remissions and ongoing preventive measures. The article presents the results on the study of the influence of cognitive and psychomotor reactions, the attention functions on the effectiveness of group and short-term psychotherapy in people with alcohol dependence. A total of 230 male patients with AD and a control group of 121 were examined. The basic group was randomized into 4 subgroups depending on the type of psychotherapy used (short-term or group therapy) and the results of treatment (presence of annual remission or absence). To assess the neuropsychological status, the following tests were used: "Schulte tables"; RTI and MOT from CANTAB. It is established that the high efficiency of mental performance is a predictor of the choice of short-term psychotherapy in the treatment of alcohol dependence.
