About formation of assessment of the health disorders military and epidemiological significance among conscripts in the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus
Abstract
The health status is an important aspect of combat readiness and combat effectiveness of servicemen. The goal – to form an assessment of the health disorders military and epidemiological significance among conscripts in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus. A random statistical analysis of medical reports (blank 3/MED) from military units was carried out, in these units more than 80% of the total number of servicemen in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus served in 2003–2016. The International Classification of Diseases, the 10th revision (ICD-10) was used for unifying the recording of servicemen morbidity. When calculating the generalized assessment of the military and epidemiological significance of health disorders of conscripts the contribution to the structure of the class (group) of diseases was multiplied for death by coefficient 3, for dismissing – by 2, the remaining data – by 1. In the structure of the assessment of the disorders military and epidemiological significance 1st rank was composed by injuries, poisoning and certain other consequences of external causes (XIX chapter according to ICD-10), 2nd – diseases of the respiratory system (X chapter), 3rd – diseases of the digestive system (XI chapter), 4th – diseases of the circulatory system (IX chapter), 5th – diseases of the musculoskeletal system and connective tissue (XIII chapter). Contribution to the structure of general assessment of these classes was 73.2%. Among the nosologies (chapter groups) the 1st rank in the structure of the assessment of disorders military and epidemiological significance was acute respiratory infections of the upper respiratory tract (J00–J06 in the ICD-10), 2nd – injuries involving multiple body regions (T00–T09), 3rd – sequelae of injuries, of poisoning and of other consequences of external causes (T90–T98), 4th – diseases of oesophagus, stomach and duodenum (K20–K31), 5th – injuries to the head (S00–S09). The total contribution of these five nosologies to the structure of the general assessment was 37.4%.
