Mitral valve disease: prevalence and problematic issues of conscription in armed forces of the Republic of Belarus
Abstract
The 5th International Military Medical Forum «The Great Wall» was held in the People’s Republic of China on March 23–26, 2018, in which representatives of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus took part. Own data of a nationwide population-based observational study evaluating the true prevalence of mitral valve prolapse (MVP) among young people across the Republic of Belarus were disseminated («global disease burden») were presented. The fact of an increase in the frequency of the MVP was indicated in the Republic – up to 7.9%, compared with the generally accepted population in Europe – 2.3%. So, MVP had held a leading in the structure of cardiovascular pathology among young men of conscription age (18–27 years old) and this had led to release from conscription.
