Abstract

Scientific publications indicate significant cognitive impairment in individuals with eating disorders. However, their clinical manifestations, nature, and intensity remain unclear.
The aim of this study was to examine the frequency and structure of cognitive impairment in 58 female patients with eating disorders (average age 10–40 years) undergoing treatment in a psychiatric hospital.
The authors describe one clinical case of a patient with bulimia nervosa and cognitive impairment. This article also presents data from scientific studies on the presence of cognitive impairment in individuals with a wide range of eating disorders (anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating disorder).
